Dead Sea Bath Salts
http://www.LivingSunFoods.com
This weekend I was grocery shopping and out of the corner of my eye I caught the bath salts sitting on the shelf. I’ve been wanting to try these for sometime so I picked up the lavender scented one.
The salts are very rich in magnesium chloride, a particular kind of salt. The minerals are absorbed through the skin while soaking in the bathtub. This allows for an increase in blood circulation throughout the body.
Interesting facts about the Dead Sea:
- Contains ten times as much salt compared to other sea water
- 12-18% of Dead Sea Salt is sodium chloride compared to 97% of the salt that is found in the regular ocean water
- Because the Dead Sea is so dense with salt, it allows you to float more easily.
Have you ever used Dead Sea Mineral Bath Salts or Epsom Salt and if so what was your experience?

Move your Furniture and Improve your Health????
Feng Shui, an ancient Chinese philosophy, upholds that health is the most important aspect in your life. Health is the center of your existence, and without health, your life could be absent of balance and harmony. The key focus of Feng Shui and health benefits are to tackle poor health problems. Improved health with Feng Shui will allow you to seek balance and harmony in every facet of life. While health is the center of life, in Feng Shui it is also believed to be the center of the home. All rooms of your home, including your bedroom, living room, and kitchen, are believed to have a health area, which is the center of the room.
There are a number of ways that you can utilize Feng Shui and health in your home to bring balance to your life. First, remember that yellow is the color of health. This color is a great choice for decoration accents, such as pillows and curtains. Another important Feng Shui tip to remember is that nine is the number most often attributed to the enhancement of life. Arranging items in groups of nine may aid your health. By combining the color yellow and the number nine in elements throughout the home, you may achieve health benefits associated with Feng Shui.
Utilizing these ideas of the color yellow and the number nine as having benefits for Feng Shui and health, you can come up with a number of ways to incorporate positive elements into your home. For example, add some yellow flowers to your home, preferably in the center of a room or in the center on top of a piece of furniture. The middle of the coffee table in the living room or the middle of your kitchen table are two ideal places. One place in incorporate the use of the number nine is with wind chimes. Strategically place a wind chime made of nine chimes in a room with open windows. This is an excellent way to encourage positive Feng Shui and health. The open windows will allow sunlight and fresh air to enter your home.
Getting rid of unnecessary items throughout your home will improve both Feng Shui and health. Feng Shui philosophy emphasizes to avoid clutter, which is believed to bring a negative influence to health. Clutter should be eliminated from all areas of the home, even closets, bathrooms, garages, and attics. Not only should clutter be absent, but all items throughout the house should be neatly arranged in a fashion that is appealing to the eyes and promotes positive perceptions. If you want to improve Feng Shui and health by removing clutter, begin slowly and tackle one room at a time to avoid frustration. This approach will minimize the stress of rearranging your home into a more positive environment, and when the job is finished, you will be on your way to an entire home life free of stress.
A room in your home that can be a focal point for Feng Shui and health is your bathroom. The bathroom is associated with an area of dead chi, which can be reduced by incorporating living things such as plants or crystals into the room. Using bright colors in the bathroom can also reduce the affects of dead chi. One thing to be aware of is the arrangement of your bathroom door in relation to your bedroom. If the door is directly across from the bedroom, be sure to keep the door shut as much as possible. By separating this room from the rest of your house, you can prevent bad chi. Other ways to separate rooms are to use curtains or screens.
For the best Feng Shui and health, you need to also be aware of leaking fixtures, such as facets, showerheads, and toilets. Although water is an important part of Feng Shui, it has negative connotations if the water is being wasted, such as with leaks. Be sure to fix any leaky pipes, and your home will be healthier and closer to the ideals of Feng Shui.
Once the physical elements of your home have been adjusted to promote better Feng Shui and health, you need to also pay attention to the mental elements. Positive thinking is essential to maintaining a healthy home. A good way to encourage positive thinking is to allow a pleasant aroma to fill the air, such as lavender. A mixture of lemon or lavender essential oil and spring water makes a good spray for misting throughout the home. As you spray an aroma, repeat to yourself a few simple words, such as a wish for health. With your positive thinking, you can also keep in mind good health for your friends and family, as well as any person that may enter your home. Following these simple Feng Shui tips, you may just find yourself feeling healthier and better than you ever have before.

How to Clean & Treat Oily Greasy Skin – Effective Solutions for Revitalizing a Dull Oily Complexion
Is it oily skin you have, no greasy skin? Is it greasy skin you have, no oily skin? Women will do anything to avoid having to admit having one or the other skin type, but more the woman who blushes over the issue. Is it oily or dry skin that women suffer from the most? Both conditions come on a level par as a problem for both genders. People the world over have at some time experienced patches of either dry or oily skin, and still do for them who haven`t found a solution to treat the problem.
Not that the mature man/woman is not affected with oily skin, it is primarily an issue we connect towards the younger individual where it affects 1 of every 2 teenagers (girl and boy.) Oily skin is more likely to bring blackheads, skin shine, and if you love cosmetics and like creating the perfect finish – then oily skin can prevent this from happening. Acne is another result of greasy skin. Sadly, just washing the face isn’t enough, and over-washing is unhealthy. Remember, some specific oily skin treatments contain harsh chemicals so read the label carefully and follow instructions accordingly. Particular ingredients upset the delicate Ph balance of the skin or skin tone so take care, as we are here to treat oily skin “only” and not something derived as a result from using products that contained harsh substances. Un-agreeable elements used on your skin can cause serious skin concerns.
When looking for a solution for oily skin, then natural oils is naturally the best. There are women who cannot get there head round why, when you have oily skin how using “oils” is the answer. A lot of answers to our problems may not make sense or seem right; however the important thing is if it works and is safe then why on earth question them answers.
Solution for Oily Skin – Citrus essential oils, such as lemon, grapefruit, tangerine and orange, helps treat oily skin without the worry of harsh ingredients coming in contact with the skin. Find an all-natural herbal lotion base and add 3 to 4 drops per ounce of the citrus essential oil of choice to the base (herbal lotion, skin toner, aloe Vera gel, witch hazel). This remedy is best applied in the evening to help prevent oily skin. Wash the face thoroughly every morning with a mild antibacterial soap prior to facial applications.
Blackheads and Oily Skin
Nearly every one of us at some time may have seen a blackhead on the nose, chin, ear, or even inside the lobe and they are not very nice, however unsightly they are you must never squeeze a blackhead with your fingernails as this is not healthy, there is a knack to ridding blackheads which is more hygienic and safe.
Blackhead reducer
Mix an oatmeal paste with unflavored oatmeal, lemon juice and olive oil, using just enough olive oil to wet the mixture. Warm the mix. Smooth over the face to draw oil from pores to help reduce blackheads. Rinse the face thoroughly with warm water. On your travels while you search for oily skin treatments you will face having to choose from a variety of beauty products and remedies. If you’re in a dilemma and confused about what to select as the appropriate treatment ask an assistant for assistance, and always get a second opinion from your doctor on selected treatments.
Many treatments suggested will appear more appetizing to the palette than what is considered as solution to oily skin, however if you want to treat and cure oily skin you have to resist the urge to nibble on the ingredients. Reduce oil discharge for fresh looking skin and less greasy appearance by trying:
A crab apple concoction made into a paste which you smooth over the face and neck and leave for 20 minutes. Rinse off with warm water. It is a rich source of alpha hydroxy acids (AHA) which the benefits the skin by toning, softening and moisturizing dull oily skin.
Wheat germ oil has amazing qualities for perfecting the skin in a number of ways. Smooth wheat germ oil over your face in a massage type fashion. Leave it on for 60 minutes and rinse off with warm water. Natural vitamin E is a powerful anti-oxidant, this oil prevents skin damage caused by UV rays and environmental pollution. It’s a fabulous method for softening the skin. Worth and all over body massage with the oil don`t you agree.
Milk- It is vitally important for people with oily skin to keep their skin clear otherwise it has a tendency to form acne lesions making the skin patchy, discolored and course. If oil is present the skin becomes tacky thus working like a magnet drawing dirt/grime towards the stickiness which then clogs the pores. Clogged pores increase development of oil secretion. Milk is an oil free cleanser which doesn’t dry out the skin. Treat the face several times a day with a milk-wash to keep sebum/oil to a minimum. Clean the face thoroughly before going to bed. Make sure every trace of make-up is removed. Mix 2-3 drops of sandalwood or lavender oil with 2 tablespoon of milk. Massage with cotton wool swab to clean ingrained grime and makeup. Do not stretch or over-pull the skin around the eyes. Gentle massage improves blood circulation. If you have broken skin, avoid stretching in that area to prevent spread of infection.
Most women think that once they have given the skin the once over with soap and water that is the end of that. Think about it ladies, all women wash their face but still suffer problems and why, simply because washing is not enough for maintaining and achieving a radiant complexion.
Moisturizing the skin is a vital element that should be practiced at every possible convenience in a woman’s` beauty regime. A beauty conquest is incomplete without moisturizer. The skin loses its natural moistures throughout the day and needs replenishing, and if moisturizer is not used – you face skin issues like roughness and the skin becoming irritated. Facial and body skin needs regular moisturizing and from this you will see fewer fine lines, a smooth texture, and less surface flaking. Honey is a natural moisturizer. Anything natural is good. Apply a thin layer of honey over the face. Yes it`s messy and sticky, but hey if it’s the answer to your problem, then what is the problem. The honey glaze is easily removed with warm water after it had been left on for about 15 minutes.
Judge the amount of oil in your skin and moisturize accordingly.
Following the moisturizing session you need to exfoliate. It is necessary to exfoliate with a mild facial scrub about 3-4 times per week to balance the skin’s moisture. Rice powder is a natural exfoliating agent. It gives over-stressed oily skin a new vitality and a healthy glow.
Make a paste with 1 tablespoon rice powder, 1 tablespoon corn flour and a few drops of lemon juice. Add water if needed. Using an upward/outward circular motion massage the mix on the face. This particular blend actually rids dead cells that mass in the upper layer of the skin. Lemon citrus stimulates the nerves while the chemicals contained in the juice have a bleaching agent that treats dark spots left by the various outbreaks of the oily skin. Lemon fresh is how the skin will feel after you have finished.
Make a facial scrub with 2 tablespoons of almond meal, 1 tablespoon ground lemon rind and 3-4 tablespoon milk.
When bathing, add rose petals and 3-4 drops of chamomile oil to the water and 1 drop of geranium oil. The chemicals in the petals and the oils act as a unique toner for oily skin.
It`s funny how when we age we find ourselves trying to understand how over the years that what we battled against, is now what we battle for, meaning, the treatments involved for ridding oil is now a reverse treatment where we look to put oil back into the skin because oil production decreases with age.
With age, skin starts to wrinkle making it necessary to supply the skin with oils. Oily skin has its perks because it generally ages the skin “slowly,” so look on the bright side because maybe, just maybe, you may warm to the idea of the glossy look in comparison to the look of a dried prune.

Create Your Garden for That Drought Season
Living in Colorado and being a gardener has been rather stressful in the past few years, as this state has been undergoing a rather severe drought. The city is imposing watering restrictions which are not giving enough water to lawns and plants. I’ve had to renovate my garden to make it more water efficient. Now, because of the techniques I’ve employed, I’m the only one in my neighborhood with a garden that isn’t completely brown. So if you live in an area that is going through a drought or if you just want to save water, I suggest you use some of these techniques as well.
First, I took out all my plants. The soil I was using didn’t retain water very well, so I had to water about twice as much as necessary in order to get it to actually absorb into the roots. If you have this same problem, you can fix it by loading the soil up with lots of compost. This not only prevents water from escaping, but encourages the plant’s roots to be healthy and able to survive more.
Once I was done optimizing the soil for my new low water consumption plan, I was ready to replace all my plants. I decided that the placement of all my plants would reflect the amount of water necessary to keep them alive. All the plants that don’t require much water I placed in on one side of my garden, and then just progressed in the amount of required water to the other side of the garden. As a result of my new arrangement, I don’t have to waste water on plants that don’t need it as much.
The installation of a drip irrigation system was another move on my part that reduced the amount of water I needed to fully water my garden. The great thing about these systems is that they constantly drip into your plants, so that every single drop is absorbed. With traditional watering systems, usually the roots get too overwhelmed with the sheer amount of water in the soil. Thus, lots just seeps right past. This is all taken care of with the drip system.
If you still seem to need more water than you can supply to your garden, you might consider which plants you could replace with less water dependent plants. If you want a good shrub that doesn’t use up more than its share of water, look for Heavenly Bamboo. It is not only tolerant of droughts, but looks rather decorative in any garden. Herbs such as rosemary are useful in preparing meals, and are rarely thirsty.
If you’re trying to find flowers that will still be lush and beautiful despite the lower amounts of water, look for penstemon varieties like Garnet, Apple Blossom, Moonbeam, and Midnight. You can attract hummingbirds and butterflies with varieties like Cosmos and Yarrow. The best part about all these plants is that they don’t look rugged and withstanding, but they sure are. Your neighbors wont be saying “Look at them, they downgraded their plants just to withstand the drought. What chumps!” Instead they will be marveling over how you keep your flowers so beautiful in the midst of the watering regulations.
One of my favorite drought resistant plants is the Lavender plant. I could go on for pages about it. A large group of Lavender plants looks unbelievably gorgeous in your garden, and hardly requires any water to flourish. Pineapple sage is another personal favorite. It is a 2+ foot shrub that smells strangely of pineapple. It’s another major attracter of hummingbirds, and the leaves are also useful to add taste to drinks.
So if you are in the position I was, and you’re dealing with a drought and perhaps watering regulations, I suggest you try some of the things I’ve mentioned. Even if you’re just trying to conserve water or be generally more efficient with it, I think you’ll still be able to benefit.

Acne Home Remedies – Free Acne Treatments
A right acne treatment can begin from your kitchen. There are several vegetables and fruits which can be used to cure acne. Some people are not convinced with the effectiveness of home treatments for acne. So first you should know what the actual cause of acne is?
Acne is the result of the lack of vital vitamins like Vitamin E, Vitamin A and Pantothenic Acid. Deficiency in these vitamins leads to the growth of bacteria that clogs the skin oil. This in turn leads to acne. Most of the medicines try to replenish the essential vitamins, which can be easily got by filling your diet with vegetable and fruits containing those vitamins.
Diet containing green vegetables and fresh fruits can do wonder in your efforts to cure your acne. Skin reflects what is happening inside the body. Avoiding junk and processed food to a large extend can be very useful in the treatment of acne. If followed strictly, change in dietary habits can be the best treatment for acne.
Keeping the skin clean is also an important part in the acne treatment. Cleaning the skin with lemon is an effective acne treatment. Lemon is used for several purposes mainly due to the presence of citric acid. The citric acid has several essential properties required to kill the harmful bacteria. Rub lemon on your skin before going to sleep and you will find a clear skin in the morning. Similarly, you can get rid of acne scars by applying tomato slice. Applying garlic on the spots is another effective homemade acne treatment. Mint juice also can remove skin lesions and scars.
Apply a paste of sandalwood and fresh basil leaves on the affected area to get rid of acne naturally. The clogging of the skin oil which leads to acne is caused by particular bacteria. Applying witch hazel after washing of the face and shower can eliminate the harmful bacteria.
Other homemade acne treatments include applying the paste of orange peels. This paste cleans the skin and fights harmful bacteria. Application of raw papayas can also bring relief to acne. Daily application of tea tree oil, coconut oil, lavender oil and jojoba oil before bathing for an hour can reduce acne. Drink at least 8-10 glasses of water to flush. Another effective treatment for acne is applying a paste of crushed strawberry leaves.

The History of the World and Aromatherapy
Six thousand years ago, just as man had started to learn how to farm lands, the importance of oils had already been known to the Egyptians. A papyrus dating back to 1555 BC had been found to contain recipes that could be use for remedy of certain ailments. When the tomb of Tutankhamen was opened in 1922, it was also found to contain jars of oils.
The use of essential oils was clearly documented in the Ebers papyrus which was discovered in 1817. This 870-foot long papyrus dates back to 1555 BC and contains more than 800 herbal recipes for different ailments. They used myrrh extensively in embalming their dead. The Egyptians also grew herbs not just for their oils but also to burn them as part of their offerings to their deities.
Since Egypt had close connections with the Greeks, the use of the essential oils and aromatherapy in general had reached them. Aesculapius was one of the few Greeks who, early on, began to use herbs and oils in treatment of different maladies. Hippocrates even went to Egypt to study the different uses of essential oils.
Not to be left behind by the Greeks, the Romans improved the make-up of essential oils. They imported ingredients from the Arabia and India and used these oils for their baths and for massages. They would also diffuse oils in their buildings.
The Arabs were the ones who were able to refine the distillation process of the oils. They were able to distil alcohol and were able to do away with heavy, oil-based perfumes.
The Aztecs in South America also used herbs and oils for various ailments. They would extract the oils from the numerous plants that grow in their forests.
The interest in essential oils died down during the dark ages. It was re-discovered when Dr. René-Maurice Gattefossé accidentally discovered the healing properties of Lavender oil. It was his research work that started people’s interest in the clinical use of essential oils.
Today, various people swore by the effects of different essential oils – from Lavender to Ylang-Ylang to Chamomile. These oils have helped countless people to heal from wounds, headaches, and even depression.
